Interdisciplinary Research Clusters
The Federmann Center for the Study of Rationality | Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Overview
Interdisciplinary Research Clusters are semester-long research groups hosted by the Federmann Center for the Study of Rationality. The program supports focused interdisciplinary collaboration around topics related to the Center’s interests (broadly interpreted).
Cluster Composition
Clusters are small faculty groups, usually comprised of three to six faculty spanning at least two disciplines.
-
Most cluster members are typically Hebrew University faculty, with the option to include faculty from other Israeli universities.
-
Clusters are generally anchored by at least one participant who already has a connection to the Center.
Weekly Meetings and Support
Clusters meet at the Center on one fixed day each week throughout the semester. On the cluster’s meeting day, the Center supports the group with:
-
Space: A conference room and shared offices for the day.
-
Hospitality: Lunch, coffee, and cookies.
Student and Postdoc Participation
Clusters may include up to ten students and postdocs, typically those affiliated with the cluster members. Affiliated students and postdocs have access to shared student office space at the Center on the cluster’s weekly meeting day.
Outcomes and Events
Clusters share their work with the community in several ways:
-
Public Event: At least one seminar, panel, or event at the Center that is open to the public during the hosting semester.
-
Reports: A summary report of activities submitted at the end of the semester, followed by an update one year later.
